Rehan Ahmed, born on August 13, 2004, is a cricketer from England. He debuted internationally against Pakistan on December 17, 2022, becoming England’s youngest Test player at 18 years and 126 days. Notably, he became the youngest debutant to take five wickets in an innings in men’s Tests during the match. On March 12, 2023, Ahmed also became the youngest English male cricketer to feature in all three international formats.

Early life and career

Rehan’s father, Naeem Ahmed, a former cricketer from Pakistan, moved to England with his wife in 2001. The family settled in Nottinghamshire, where Rehan and his brothers, Farhan and Raheem, developed their cricketing skills. Ahmed began his cricket journey in the youth setup of Nottinghamshire but later moved to Leicestershire in 2017. Recognized as a promising talent, he was invited to bowl at England and West Indies players at Lord’s, where he impressively dismissed Ben Stokes.

Domestic Career

Ahmed made his List A debut for Leicestershire on July 25, 2021, during the Royal London One-Day Cup. Before this, he was named in the County Select XI squad for a match against India. He represented England in the 2022 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he took 12 wickets in four matches, helping his team reach the final. Ahmed joined the Southern Brave team in April 2022.He extended his contract with Leicestershire until 2026 and made his first-class debut on May 19, 2022, during the County Championship.
