Educational Background:
Williams holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science from the United States Naval Academy and a Master of Science degree in Engineering Management from the Florida Institute of Technology.

Military Service:
Commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy in 1987, Williams excelled in her military career. She became a Naval Test Pilot and logged more than 3,000 flight hours in over 30 different aircraft.
NASA Career:
Selected by NASA as an astronaut candidate in 1998, Sunita Williams completed her training in 2000. She embarked on her first spaceflight aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-116) in December 2006. During this mission, she participated in three spacewalks.
